New division Presidents position the company for more growth and success

Cathcart Rail (Cathcart) has announced the appointment of Derek Kissick as President of Repair Facilities and Gary Long as President of Field & Rail Services.

Mr. Kissick has been with Cathcart since March of 2020 and served most recently as its Chief Operating Officer. In addition to Cathcart’s multi-year capital expansion plan, the increasingly complex regulatory, compliance, and safety aspects of the railcar repair industry warrant dedicated executive leadership and Mr. Kissick’s prior experience with Caltrax, CAD Railway Industries, Appalachian Rail Services, and Cathcart make him uniquely qualified to lead this division which includes 15 tank car and freightcar repair facilities.

Mr. Long is new to the Cathcart leadership team but has been associated with the business as an active member of Cathcart’s board since May of this year. In his new role, Mr. Long will lead a national network of railroad mechanical locations, three short line railroads, and a dozen contract switching and transloading sites. Mr. Long brings more than 40 years of industrial and rail experience to this new role, including leadership positions with Genesee & Wyoming, OmniTrax, and Norfolk Southern.

Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Casey Cathcart, expressed enthusiasm for these appointments, stating, “This strategy positions us well for continuing our aggressive growth and development plans, and Derek and Gary will play pivotal roles in guiding the expansion of their respective divisions.”

In addition to these strategic appointments, Cathcart has been adding depth and capabilities to leadership positions across the organization including commercial, operations, finance, human resources, compliance, and supply chain management over the past two years to support operational and growth objectives.

“We are now well positioned to grow market share and drive long term success,” Mr. Cathcart added. “This divisional structure, led by two strong leaders, complements our vision for the future of Cathcart Rail.”
